Protect the Amazon rainforest and indigenous peoples!
Federal President Ueli Maurer will meet Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro at the WEF. Federal President Maurer must urgently demand the protection of the Amazon and the indigenous peoples of Brazil!
The newly elected President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, will attend the WEF in Davos this year. The right-wing ex-military officer has disturbing plans:
One of Bolsonaro's first actions as president was to stop all new demarcations of indigenous land. As a result, decades of efforts by Brazil's indigenous people to gain recognition and ownership of land have been shattered. The termination of the demarcation process opens up land to powerful actors such as the mining, agricultural and timber industries - especially in remote parts of the Amazon region.
The access of these actors to the habitat of indigenous peoples and the rainforests of the Amazon must be prevented at all costs.
Sign the petition and urge President Ueli Maurer to insist on the protection of the Amazon and the indigenous peoples of Brazil at his meeting with President Bolsonaro!
