Mining companies increase their profits by unscrupulously disposing of their toxic waste in waters. Banks like Credit Suisse finance such activities and earn their share from this terrible environmental destruction.

Credit Suisse maintains business relationships with three mine operators who together discharge millions of tons of toxic waste into the oceans each year. Mercury, arsenic, lead and dozens of other hazardous substances, which are in some cases contained in the waste, kill marine animals and poison the water in which people swim and fish.

Some of the worst mines are in Papua New Guinea. They pollute coral reefs and coastal waters and endanger the health and livelihoods of the population. Significantly involved in financing one of the mine operators operating there: Credit Suisse.
Further projects with similar catastrophic effects are underway in Norway and Chile.

Sign the open letter to Credit Suisse CEO Tidjane Thiam now and urge him to immediately terminate all business relationships with companies that dump their toxic waste into the oceans.

Turn off the money tap for mining companies that dispose of their toxic waste in the sea!

Dear Mr Thiam,

Credit Suisse maintains business relationships with the three companies Newcrest Mining1, Nussir ASA2 and First Quantum Minerals3, which together discharge millions of tons of toxic waste into the oceans each year. This unscrupulous practice kills fish stocks, destroys entire ecosystems and threatens the livelihoods of countless people.

We demand that Credit Suisse break off all business relationships with companies that dump their toxic waste into the oceans!

Yours sincerely
